Russian Loss

Hello frontflieger, On 12 June 1917 (n.s.) military pilot Poruchik G.A. Gagua of the 19th KAO (probably on Nieuport type) was reported by the Russians as being hit by enemy artillery and falling in enemy lines near Olchovets (Olchowiec). Gagua was first reported missing, then as having perished. German information indicates that a crew of Fl.Abt.(A)242w with pilot Utffz. Emil Soltau and observer Ltn.d.R. Segeth was involved. The 19th KAO was with the 1st Battle Air Group, then serving with the 7th Army on the SW Front. Best regards, agblume

Hello agblume,

thank you for these information. They confirm what I know about this incident by 100%!! Yes, it were Soltau and Segeth who got this Nieuport as aerial victory. - Is it possible to learn more about this pilot Poruchik G.A. Gagua? Where did he come from...?
