chutes

Just some evergreen threads of plastic, shaped according to windsock pix and plans. Add some tamiya tape. If you know the Revell kit (or the other 1/28 model kits), you'll realize that all the interior is scratch build, as well as some exterior details. The original kit is really a big piece of crap.
When I think that I also bought the SPAD XIII and Camel kits!

Very nice model Iwik, Well done!

Can't help feeling you're being a bit harsh on the dear old 1/28's though...They're 50 years old now and still able to be turned into prize winning models in the hands of a decent model builder like yourself!

The DR.1 has many good features: The wings and tailplane still set the benchmark...Have a look at the 1/32 Hobbycraft, or Dragon 1/48. The only things that need replacing on it are the prop, cowling and guns, which you could say about all of the modern kits too!

Revell 1/28's...I salute your amazing longevity!

Iwik- Beautiful job. I really love the wing tip and tail skids. Masterful work. Just looked at a really high res photo of 160/17 and you nailed the skids. Assume this is a Jasta 14 Dr.I. Whose is it?

YOU SIR !! You ARE A Modeller GOD !!! Yes a Deity !! Allow me to worship your presence !!!

NOT ONE !! No No ! NOT ONE !!! BUT TWO !!!! TWO BATTLE AXE KITS !!!! COMPLETED !!
Including the INFAMOUS Premire BA "FrankensteinFokker DVII" !!

YOU SIR !! You ARE A Modeller GOD !!! Yes a Deity !!

They both seem primarily OOB Builds. They BOTH Demonstrate absolutley AWESOME Painting and Finishing !! The Turned Aluminum Cowl on the EIII is an WORK of ART !!!

MY deepest Congradulations and Greatest Admiration !!!!

Your finishing techniques truly demonstrate what a professional finish can accomplish in presenting even the most crudest of kits. How you managed thru BA Crude Boxed Kits is amazing ! Very nice work indeed!!! I salute YOU SIR ! This is truly a momentous Acheivement !

I have the entire series (except for the OEG Alb DIII) in semi permanent Build shelf storage. I stuggled 5 mos on the BA Fokker DVIII, scratch building the enitre cockpit and frame work. I am down to finish sodering together some brass "Struz" replacemnt Gear and wing struts and mounting the GUns and Engine Cowl and attaching the Gear and WIng. Kaput. Stuck. Quivering from the stress. Seeking Post tramatic therpy before continueing further !!

YES SIR YOU !! YOU ARE AN INSPIRATION !!! Thank you ! It has been quite a while since we've seen some Large scale finished builds here MUCH LESS the suberb quailty and workmanship you have demonstrated.

I bow my head in deferance, "Iam not worthy" COngrats !!!

Yours mike

Jeez, thaks guys!

Wow, didn't expect That much!
MgTaylo: you worship me? Jeez, thanks a lot. Did you think about sending me money?
Actually I have to admit the DVII sat in my cellar for a whole year. Not so much for the difficulty of its built, but more likely because of my inability to find a satisfying camo rendering. The one from the box is simply awful. Until I bought Roden'Dr1 and saw in an Osprey that Jacob also had this devil's head on his DVII. And voilà...
Taz: Jasta 14 it is! The pilot is Joseph Schulte, credited with 4 kills.
Ross: I do have another built in stock. Academy's 1/32 Ni17. I wanted to portray it as Dorme's mount, until I bought a great book called "René Dorme and Joseph Guiguet: la guerre aérienne de 2 as" which at one point points to the particulartity of his (early) Ni17. So I had to make a lot of changes although most of its paint job was done. I'll show it to everyone once its done, but if you want a scoop:

I'm also currently building a bunch of Camel (1 1/48 and 2 1/32). But it's slow work. I'm also sculpting a few 1/32 german and english figures to accompany my models.
Ciao
