Question Willson's Aviator Sunglasses worn by Lafayette Escadrille?

Hello. I have just come into the possession of a pair of Willson aviator's sunglasses that come with a history that puts them onto a pilot flying in the Lafayette Escadrille. The lenses are eitched with the letters "Wh A H". Can anyone help me to determine if the claims made about these glasses might be true? Photos of sunglasses worn by L.E. pilots, anecdotes about what's etched on the lenses and why, etc.

Thanks in advance.
