Lt. Latimer crash 10/4 1918

I am trying to find information on Lt. A. Latimer. 28 Squardron RAF. Shot down near Rotzo, Italy on October 4 1918. I really don't have much in the way of a reference library for this yet. If someone can point me in the right direction here, I would appreciate it. I know from Taz's help, that it is mentioned in The Sky Their Battlefield, but I don't believe any detail. I have this book on order, but its not here yet.

Lieutenant Alfred Latimer was shot down and killed by anti-aircraft fire while flying Camel D8244. There might be more information in one of Norman MacMillan's books "Into The Blue" or "Offensive Patrol", but I don't have either to hand.

Thanks for the information and the references. It looks like both of these books have good background on the situation in Northern Italy, so I've ordered them both.

When I run the serial number through the database, I come up with Camel D8244 being assigned to Joseph Hallonquist. What am I missing here?

Hallonquist certainly flew D8244, he claimed a victory (unconfirmed) in it on 28 July 1918, but it was by no means his personal machine.

I have one of MacMillan's books here at home, I'll dig it out and see if there any references to this incident.

I have a photograph of a downed camel. See the camo and marking forum and look at the thread Number on the flap, to see the photo. The photograph is dated Oct 5, 1918. Camel Lt. Latimer was shot down the day before, so I am cautiously assuming that the downed camel may be D8244. I was hoping some clues as to what happened in the incident might help to confirm or disprove my assumption. It appears to me that the plane was landed in a somewhat controled manner and then hit some trees on the left side. The landing gear appear to be intact as well as the wings on the right side. I think this would require him to be concious when the plane landed. The plane in the photo is surrounded by Austrian soldiers. Since Lt. Latimer was in the Rotzo area when he went down, this matches up nicely.
