Ahhhh... one of Robert's kits... the "Dream Classic." Very nice stuff. Robert is a great guy and very helpful too!

I'm sure you'll have a great time with that little bird!

I'm building a Graham Lee Siemens Schuckert DI replica (same construction techniques.)

kit D1

Hello Brad , D1 that sounds cool were do you get plans for that one? Like to see pics of that one as you build her. When I get this one done I told Robert I'll be getting either the E-III or the D-VIII kit unless till then he makes a 3/4 scale Nieuport.

Joe,

The Siemens Schuckert DI is a slight modification of the Nieuport plans, in 7/8 scale. It is included as part of the plans... BUT... Graham's plans are not quite up to Robert's standard. More like sketches and a lot of descriptive text. Plenty to build from, but some "room for interpetation."

The differences are: Straight center section on the upper wing, different cowl and faired into the fuselage more, rear cabanes are vertical instead of coming together at the top, slight difference in the rudder shape, a different tailskid, landing gear and interplane struts were tubing faired with wood instead of made from wood.

For practical purposes on this aircraft, the cowl/fairing to fuselage, wing center section, cabanes, and rudder shape are different... that's all I'm changing.

BTW Robert is now doing his own 7/8 scale Nieuport. This could also easily be done as the Siemens Schuckert DI. Talk to Robert, he'll hook you up. His differs from Graham's in that it has 2 spars in the lower wings, among other things... NOT to say that there is any problem with Graham's design. It is well proven.
