1/144 Decals?

Greetings all,

I've been building some of the Sram 1/144 kits lately and really like the quality of the molding and detail. Although most kits have the basic decals included, I was wondering if anyone knew of an aftermarket supplier who produces transfers in this scale (especially lozenge!). TIA.

Regards,
Bob D.

Not Aware Of Any....

I too build in 1/144 and have several of the Sram kits lined up. I'm not aware of any decals in 1/144. One of the wargames manufacturers (like Skytrex or Reviresco or someone like that) may do a sheet of German crosses, but I'm not aware of any commercial sources for personal markings and lozenge. The only option (and what I'm planning to do) is to scan my 1/72 or 1/48 decals, reduce them down and print on decal paper. If you do this, make sure you scan your own decals to avoid copyright issues.

The quality of the Sram decals varies. I made their Morane:

and those decals were fine, but I also have the DH2 and those aren't really usable. Poor colours and they appear to be dot matrix printed, as the dots are clearly visible.

Cheers,

Nigel

Hello Bob D.,

Blue Rider published a set of 1/144 British insignia in 1991. It was titled 'WW1 RFC Roundels & Stencils'; product number BR700a. They are superior to the ones that came with my SRAM RE.8. I acquired them a few years ago through Hannants, UK, but am unsure if thery are still available.

Hope this helps.
