Jean Navarre's Nieuports

One of Jean Navarre's Nieuports was almost completely red, even before Richthofen's. Did any of Navarre's Nieuports last to the end of the war and are they in any museums?

I don't think any genuine Nieuport 11 from the Great War still exists today - can anyone more knowledgable on French aircraft confirm this? - so it follows that none of Navarre's mounts are to be found in any museum.

But whatta I know, huh?

Simba- There is an original N.11 at the French National Museum. Some of the details are a bit fouled up, but it is an original airframe. Fineart Models has a model of it available in 1/15 scale.

Thanks, Taz. I'd love to see that Bebe, if ever I can find the time.

Hope it's not too like the axe used to execute Mary, Queen of Scots: 'it's had two new heads and three new handles, but it's the same old axe.'

Jean Navarre's Nieuports

Taz, do you know which color scheme they used for the Nieuport?

Margaret - It is in the beautiful CDL of the early Nieuports. See this web site for the model:

http://www.fineartmodels.com/pages/p...roduct_area=92

This is the web site for the real thing. My French N.11 experts tell me there are plenty of incorrect details (gun mount, tailskid, etc) on this aircraft, but the airframe is real.

Jean Navarre's Nieuports

Thanks so much Taz! The CDL Images really give you a detailed view of the plane-a very beautiful plane which has become one of my favorites!
