Fate of German Artillery Officer
I'm looking for any information, or advice on how to get some, on a Ltn C Mayweg who was serving with an unidentified German artillery regiment near Hollebeke in early December 1917.
If it seems off-topic, my interest stems from his being responsible for the burial of 2/Lt's Bevan and Gloster, of 20 Squadron RFC, who were killed 03.12.17, and for writing a very compassionate letter to the RFC in which he sought to reassure Gloster's wife that her husband's death was instant, and that he did not suffer.
It would be nice to know if this very chivalrous and compassionate officer survived the war.
