Newbie...
Hello to all!
I am new here and full of questions... however, I will limit myself to one.
Where does one start in this sort of endeavour. I am not sure what kind of aircraft in particular that I would like to build, but I do know that I want to build a fairly accurate full-scale reproduction.
Thanks,
Scaife

Hi Sacfie,
Where are you in Indiana? I'm near Indy and Buck Tonges is (I believe) around Ft. Wayne. If you're down south, Ross Walton is near Louisville.
I take it since you display the German Cross you are leaning towards "Axis" aircraft. The above guys are all Axis oriented and very involved in replica building.
My advice is to first choose an aircraft, but the reality is to find a powerplant and it will dictate what you build to a great degree.
Best,
Dave W.

Welcome!
Hi Scaife,
Well, I could suggest a Fokker DR-1 but we need some Allied aircraft to shoot at.
Whichever aircraft you decide on, you have come to the right place to find all the resources and help you will probably ever need. Good luck in your quest and always feel free to reach out!

Thanks for the welcome guys. To be honest, I am really not partial to any A/C in particular, I love them all. (Well... I have a thing for the old Vickers Vimy, but I am not so sure that would be a doable project). I am leaning toward a Nieuport... But, I'd relly like to do something somewhat unique.
As for where I am at... I am in Bloomington temporarily... then on to Austria for a year, then I am not sure where I will light...

Hi Scafie,
You are cordially invited to visit me in Indianapolis to look at some goodies and shoot the breeze. Simply click on my name and send me a message and we'll hook it up.
Best,
Dave W.

At the risk of being labelled a heretic by those that build from scratch and attempt to build accurate, realistic reproductions, have you considered something like the offerings of kit manufacturers such as Airdrome Aeroplanes?
Their recent 100% Nieuport 28 with a Rotec 3600 looks interesting (if you like Nieuports, that is )

LoL
Sorry I couldn't resist, Snip is right the kits work well for many people but then others are wishing they went the little extra to have a “authentic” style plane.
Good luck, and hope to see your project on the forum.
