What a site
I have only just discovered this site and was awe struck at how detailed it is. I really only have an interest in the pilots of World War One and not the planes, I did my dissertation on Allied pilots in WW1, and have always been interested in the stories behind the many aces of WW1.
Just reading through some of the biographies it takes my breath away at some of the fantastic stories that are unknown to most people nowadays.
Does anyone else agree that there has never really been any other kind of combat in history where men gained such individual prestige? While remembering that these people were young men of who many died so tragically young, there must have been some tremendous dogfights of unbelievable skill and courage when some of these aces met in battle.
With so many war films that have been made I find it strange that a truly great film about pilots from WW1 has never been made. Surely someone could make a film that would do such a fascinating period of history justice.
