U.S. Bomber squadrons

Anybody know any good websites with info on U.S. WWI Bomber and Recon squadrons and their unit marking?

Anybody have a list of US bomber squadrons?

U.S. Bomber Sqns.

Ray

The U.S. Bomber Sqns. were # 11, 20, 96, 100, 155, 163, 166.

I don't know of any Web Sites.
Most of my info comes from Cross and Cockade (US) V. 5 #2, which has a complete listing of all the Aero Sqns and their insignia - with drawings.

Need any specific insignia?

I realized that I almost no information at all on this subject and there is not much more available on the internet.

I have a Breguet XIV from Hi-Tech and was just casually wondering what other U.S. units I might be able to do it in. Not a pressing thing, that project is down the road a bit. It is frustrating though, that the subject seems almost completely ignored...

Would you mind supplying me with the squadron names to go with the numbers?

US bomber squadrons

Most of the U.S. Bomber Sqns. used the DH4. Only the 96th Bombardment used the Breguet 14. But, the 90th and 91st Observation Sqns. tested a few (9) Breguet 14 A2s in Aug 18 for night operations. Some of these (5 that survived the tests) were then transferred to the 9th Observation, also for night operations.
The Breguet 14 Special from Albatros has lots of good info, photos and a few American colour schemes.

The U.S.Aero Sqns. were only known by their numbers, they didn't have names at this time.

I believe that Over the Front had an article on the subject. You can link up to them on wwi-modeling.org or just Google Over the Front. Maybe they still have back issues. If you don't have any luck let me know and I'll see if I still have the article.

Thanks for the info guys...

Gives me someplace to start. Glad I started thinking about it now rather than when I was ready to start the project.
