Sopwith Schneider Floats

Hi--can anybody tell me if the wood grain on the top and bottom of a Sopwith Schneider' floats runs lengthwise or crosswise to the float? I've seen plastic models with the grain running lengthwise, but I'd prefer photo evidence.....

The Schneider was based on the Sopwith Tabloid, as was the Sopwith Baby. Here are pictures of the baby that is in the Fleet Air Museum - Yeovilton, UK. Pictures are by Shane Jenkins and posted on "The Great Sopwith Cookup" web site.
