Does anyone know why Voss' 103/17 was not inspected by RFC intelligence until more than one month after it was shot down behind the British lines.
Surely this was a major event, being the first German Triplane they could actually lay their hands on. It seems odd that they did not make every effort to salvage the machine without delay. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated?
Probably had to do with the heavy fighting that had started in the area at september 20th 1917 known as the battle of Menin road, which continued towards Polygon Wood. It was a very dangerous area the first days after the plane crashed !
