Departed Poperinghe a few minutes before 08:00 and shot down less than 30 minutes later near St Julien. The best match (in terms of time) is the claim by Erwin Boehme.

The entry in The Sky Their Battlefield says that the pilot, Frederick John Ortweiler, was taken prisoner but later escaped.

Thanks Graeme. Would this be Boehme's November 23rd victory ??? His other Nieuport kills seem to have other serials. What is the date that you have. Thanks.

My apologies - this incident took place on 16 October 1917 and the tentative match is against Boehme's 20th victory; I have his 19th being claimed on the same date but some like 90 minutes earlier (also over a Nieuport). However, Ortweiler is the only combat casualty I've got listed on this date.
