Of course you notice, the names appear more common to English Quebecois, than to French.

I believe that's because at that time period, french canadian men were not considered equals to canadian anglophones and most were dirt poor or farmers that did not speak a word of english, so they were not even considered for a highly regarded and respected position such as a fighter pilot, which of course, involved more training and tactics and such. They just dumped them into the trenches as grunts. (no insult to the grunts intended)

Grunts
Laspalmas - I guess the equivalent now is drafting Québecois guys to the NHL to play in goal?
No insult to the Quebecois intended - my son just came back from living in Montreal... and loved both it and them.

As you can see when living in Quebec you cant escape English-French politics even on the Drome.
Cheers! John.
