FOund today a great photograph of the wreck of a Gotha II laying upside down, surrounded by British officers and soldiers and apparently taken in Flanders.
The upper and lower wings have broken of on both sides at the place where the motergondola is connected with them. So the wings did not actually break, but the joints just broke the wings off. On these sides can clearly be seen on upper and lower wingsection the number 283. Am I right supposing this has to do with the planes serial number ?
And if I would be correct does anyone know anything on the plane ?
Regulus:
From the information I have, Gotha G.II aircraft would not have a serial number in that range. It is most likely the Gotha Werke number. Serial numbers would be displayed, Go.G.II 205/16. According to Peter M. Grosz, 10 were ordered G.200-209/16.
Blue skies,
