Hope for Roden 1/72 D VIIs

Gentlemen,
I have been too busy with a new job to make photos (or even models) but this is so simple that I doubT the need for them.
I was disappointed in a major way that the Roden D VIIs in the Munchken scale completely disregarded the cowling panel vents. You know, the ones that define the varient, for goodness sake.
Many attempts to scratchbuild those tiny shapes went for nought. I finally hit upon the idea of taping a piece of heavy duty foil onto one of Rosemont Hobbies excellent D VII noses and burnishing it with a small rounded stylus. The details came up just like the copper burnishings I did as a kid. I carefully cut the foil along the panel line and filled the back side with white glue. The result was imperfect but promising for a first try. I have strong expectations that this will be a satisfactory rescue for what I now consider to be unusable models. I am interested in your opinions.
Best regards to all,
Terry

That's a great idea Terry! It's close to what I do, which is using the crimped end of a foil bag of potato chips for louvers. I'll be looking forward to seeing how this works out for you in 1/72.
