A. J. Insall in his book 'Observer' mentions a Sergeant Wyatt who was one of his (Insall's) flying instructors in early 1915.
Does anyone know anything more about Sgt Wyatt?
First name(s)?
The only Wyatt I have a record of is a J Wyatt RFC No.192. But I don't think he's the man. J Wyatt was posted to the RFC on 9 July 1912 and discharged on 22 May 1913, 'on conviction by Civilian Powers for felony'.
Yes it is strange.
I looked that up in the Contemptibles, as well as Henshaw's work, the National Archives, and the Gazette - all of which drew blanks.
Thanks for checking.
I think the only way to know for sure would be by going through the RAeC certificates. Unfortunately the album for early 1915 is missing.
