Elsewhere on this site, [see thread:
“Details for Alb D.V 2329, please?” ], is a wonderful image of a line-up of four Albatros D.V s - belonging to Jasta 26. Of the four planes, two have their pilot’s personal markings clearly visible.
One of those two aircraft,
Otto Fruhner’s “4 Fs” Albatros D.V, has been previously discussed. The other is an Albatros D.V with a left facing swastika, (or as Steven Lawson more accurately calls it, “Hakenkreuz”). This plane so far as I can trace has never been mentioned or discussed in any thread on aircraft with swastika markings, or indeed anywhere else.
Although as regular forumites know I am no expert, I am nevertheless confident that this second plane is Vizfeldwebel Beckhardt’s Albatros D.V.
Would anyone here dissent from that view?
Mike.
P.S. Does anyone have any further information concerning the photo and it’s subject matter: when the photo might have been taken, the aerodrome, the plane’s serial number etc? Thanks.
