The Great War, and the shaping of the 20th century

A set of this video is up for sale on Ebay (Item number: 6431247170). If you are interested in this part of history, this is a good one. This 4-volume video set is in mint condition (watched only once). Pictures were included in the page of auction.

Introduction: The World War of 1914-1918, the Great War, was the first of the major catastrophes of the 20th century. In many ways it was without precedent in the annals of history. Never had so many nations taken up arms at a single time. Never had the battlefield been so vast, whether in the trenches, the sky, or on or under the seas. Nearly everyone suffered and became a soldier in one way or another. This compelling 8 hour series takes you through the “war to end all wars” and how it shaped the 20th century.

Explosion
Stalemate
Total War
Slaughter
Mutiny.
Collapse
Hatred and hunger
War without end

I agree this is one of the more interesting WW1 documentary series, far better than earlier efforts. Well worth the purchase - though the price on E-Bay seems a bit steep...

Cheers

Wink I bought it on Amazon

Thanks for your comment, Neil.

I purchased it on Amazon.com as new (now on sale for $474/set). The starting price for bidding is << the price I paid. The reserved price is very reasonable, IMHO.

I see. I taped mine when it was first run here about two years ago.

Cheers

I taped mine when it was aired on PBS for the first time in 1998. I loaned it to a friend and he never returned it. I felt I was compelled to watch it again, so I bought this one.

Cheers.
