Nice find, Hans!

It's a shame that none of the Krakow machines are complete, but we're lucky they survived at all. They're great reference material, as some things are much easier to see than they are on complete airframes.

The Albatros H.I - as far as I know there was only one built. If I could see any one of the Krakow planes complete, it'd be the H.I.

Hans- Thanks for the site. Their DFW C.V is gorgeous. Still looking for a copy of Alex Imrie's Triplane book?

When is an Albatros H.1 not an Albatros H.1?

The Albatros H.1 is not really an Albatros at all! It is a Siemens-Schuckert D.IV that was used by Albatros postwar with a lengthened wingspan for high altitude research. In the old Profile Publication of the 1960s, this aircraft is shown complete with a very broad multibay wingspan. It is the same plane. It was an SSW that Albatros got hold of and modified for their purposes. Technically speaking, the Krakow Museum has an awesome number of originals... wings or no wings!
