A Bavarian pilot...?

Hi

Oblt Kirchner served as pilot within the Bavarian FAA 293 in the spring of 1917, and later he apparently went over to the German Marine Air Force (but kept his Army rank)...

Does anyone knew more about him, like possible first name, unit information or date of birth etc...???

Gunnar, no help here, I'm afraid. Being a Bavarian - sounds like a Reinhard question. R.

Kirchner

Hi Gunnar,
I have only one bavarian pilot with the name Kirchner.
L.d.R. Adolf Kirchner (11.bFAR).
I know he had the bavarian Flugzeugführerabzeichen No.223 but I don't have more infos.
I'd like to look in the Kriegsstammrolle of the FA(A) 293b. Maybe we can find more about Kirchner.

greeting to sweden
Reinhard

Great information Reinhard..!

His name is mostly spelled Kirchner in the sources I have but Kirschner is good enough for me....

The information about his Marine service I have, is that he stayed at Johannisthal only shortly as he already on 7 Mar 18 was ordered to the stab of Grufl Küst in Flanders.
He perhaps served as Adjutant during his service here, but I am unsure about that...
On 19 Jun 18 he was posted further to the stab of Kofl Station N. Here also another "bavarian" served...
He is also mentioned to have served at Barge but I dont have any dates for this information...and perhaps was Kofl N stationed at Barge...??... anyone knews..?

Oberleutnant Adolf Kirschner

Gunnar,

I found in the personal report of Oberleutnant Kirschner:
8. march 1918 - 20. June 1918 Luftkrieg an der Flanderischen Küste
26. june 1918 - 11. november 1918 Luftkrieg Nordsee

Thanks again Reinhard

I meanwhile found that it was another person (Schumann) who was Adjutant within Grufl Küst while Kirschner was there, so I really dont knew what he was doing there...

Perhaps he was involved with the establishment of the two new units (Marine Schusta II and Küsta IV) which was a big task around this time...

Barge - there are at least three towns of this name in northern Germany - was an Flugstation of the Marine-Landflieger-Abteilung (headquarter Johannisthal)
