Crashed SE5a Photograph - any details?

Hello all,

I know this is a really really long shot, but....

I found this rather remarkable photograph on the net of a crashed SE5a with what appears to be two civilians (look like ladies?) helping the pilot away from the wreckage. It looks like the aircraft may have either been shot down or suffered structural failure, as the port side of the top wing is completely missing. There also does not appear to be any identification markings on the aircraft, no sqn markings, not even a serial number - that almost suggests that this photo may have been staged??

My question is this - firstly, has anyone on here seen this photo before and have any details of the incident - time, place, details of the aircraft etc? Does anyone have a clearer image of this particular picture? I know it's a big stab in the dark, but if anyone knows, it's you folks on here!

Thanks in advance,
BC

I've seen this same image at Rosebud's Image Archive, but the owner of the site doesn't give any source details.

So, basically I'm just saying I've seen it before, but I'm completely worthless when it comes to actually giving any useful information.
