Richard Walter, CO of BG 3

Hi,

Very often there is assumed that after the death of Hauptmann Rudolf Kleine on the 12th December 1917, the command of BG 3 was retaken by Hauptmann Brandenburg immediately, which is however not the case, certainly not on missions, as it seems that Richard Walter was temporarely in command.
Does anyone know exactly how long and or have any more info on the man ?

I have some conflicting information about the "different" Hauptleute Walter...

Regarding Richard Walter, I have that he originally served within FuAR 13, perhaps there exist a book about this unit which could give additional information..??
He was promoted Oblt on 22 Mar 15 and further to Hptm on 22 Mar 18. Before serving in new KG 3/15 he served in old KG 1/1 (actually the same unit)...

That should be our man indeed. He also led the 12 August 1917 raid on England instead of Kleine. That makes me think he was the unit's second in command.

Have to correct, It was KG 1/6 which become new KG 3/15...
