Mark Miller: a quick question on your SE5a...

Hi Mark,

I've been looking at your work on the SE5a and I'm very impressed.

My question is how much you know about the large opening in the bottom of the fuselage between the landing gear. You can see what I'm talking about if you look at the Memorial Flight's photos. Here are a couple of good ones from their site showing what I mean:

This third photo shows an angled bulkhead that, I think terminates on the aft end of the opening.

This photo shows the shape of the opening in the piece of sheet metal on the floor.

It looks to me like the purpose of that opening was to provide a place for air to exit after flying through the radiators and over the engine.

What would be nice is to see how that opening and the bulkhead are arranged with the engine in your drawings.

Regards,

My Gallery
Hi Lufbery
sorry, It has been years since i did that se5a stuff
and to be honest, I'm not so sure about the accuracy of it.
so please be careful if you use any of my renders as reference

I would like to resurect that project one of these days
but I'm afraid it is not near the top of the list

In any case
i happen to have pretty good se5a reference now
I'll see if I can find the info you need
Mark

Well, Mark, the thing is ... it looks really good. I hope you get around to finishing it.

Thanks for the response, and thank for sharing your work with us.

Regards,
