Back in the late 1960's I was living in Kansas City as a teenager. I remember there was a series of bread commercials (Sunbeam?) featuring Snoopy and the Red Baron. I don't remember the commercials all that well but the bread company hired an owner of a red Fokker triplane to fly around the neighborhoods during one of the summers. You could hear the kids, as he flew over the homes yelling, "Curse you Red Baron". This activity went on for at least a couple of weeks that summer and had to have increased the sales of plastic triplanes during the summer months.
Am sure the pilot had a great time watching all those little fists being shaken up at him as he looked down at the houses.
What a fun memory! Wish I had been able to see that promo! I love Snoopy's flying ace adventures. If they could only do things like this again now....guess that's why they call them the "good old days.!" If the promo did run again, you'd probably have a lot of 40 and 50 year olds shaking their fists in the air
Hello
I believe it was Wonder bread. I have several of the plastic bag closures in my Snoopy collection. If I can locate them (I just moved..it's a mess) I can post a scan here if wanted.
'Ol Snoop came in all forms from cars, dolls...and toilet seats.. yep, that's right.. toilet seats. One of my favorites is attached..
be well
