Hi, I am a global aviation student and am looking for the answer to this question...

By the end of WWI, what was the average speed of the aircraft?

Since the question does not specify, if there are any limiting factors on your answer, please let me know.

Thank You Very Much,
reswanso

Here's a selection:

Se5a 120 mph
Fokker DVII 124 mph
SPAD XIII 138 mph

Should give you some idea. For a better idea go to the aircraft section of this site.

cheers

My Gallery
Breguet;
I think you will find the S.E.5a with the 200 Hispano-Suiza 8Ba engine would max out at 135 mph @ sea level. It was faster than the Fok. D.VII with a BMW IIIa engine which could do 200km/hr (124mph) @ sea level.
Blue skies,

Dan-San,

Quite right. I was just going off the tables on this site as I didn't have my books with me.

Was the SPAD XIII the fastest aircraft of WW1 ?
