James Dietz's "Blue Max"
Hello,
I was curious if anyone here has purchased James Dietz's print, "Blue Max?" I am considering adding it to my collection through a secondary market dealer. As usual, the images on the dealer's web site are very small, fuzzy, unclear, etc., etc. Unfortunately, I haven't seen this print in person yet so I only have the web images to go by. It looks great to me (in the small fuzzy mode). However, I would love to hear the opinions of current owners. I just want to know if you are happy with it? Is their good detailing? Your overall impression? Feel free to send me direct emails, private emails, or reply to this post. Either works for me....

Hauptmann- There is fairly good image on Jim's web site.

Have not seen this print, but all my other Dietz prints and originals have excellent detail. Note Axial propeller decal on prop, Veltjens' Albatros and a dog very similar to MvR's Max. If you like, I can have Jim e-mail you a higher res image, too.

Hauptmann- I talked to Jim Dietz and he said this was one of his favorite paintings. Do not believe you can go wrong.

Taz, I just got it ("Blue Max") yesterday. VERY NICE Piece!!!! I am thinking about getting the companion piece that he did; "Red, White, and Blue" to go with it. I haven't seen a very detailed image of it yet, but if it is half as good as "Blue Max" I am sure it will be a very niece piece as well. If you talk to Jim Dietz again tell him he has a new groupie LOL!

If you have developed a fondness for Dietz's work you may want to check out the print he did showing Werner Voss's last fight with 56 Squadron called "Dual at Odds".
This is a great looking print! I purchased it some years ago. I think it's one of Jim's best paintings. I had mine framed and matted with a replica Pour Le Merite and a picture of Voss in front of his Triplane. Good hunting....Red.

Red, Hauptmann- Have the Voss/56 Sq print as well, but not "Blue Max". Also have an original showing F.I 102/17 and 103/17 at the Fokker factory. Have to get Jim to send me a higher quality image and I will send it to you. Assume you have also seen his MvR/ Jasta 11 print from just before MvR was shot down. Has been on multiple book covers. Will pass on your kudos to Jim.
