Sopwith snipe question

I've got a question about the Snipe. So far I've read it was the best WWI aircraft and I've also read it was horribly outdated by its arrival time and one of the worst, for its time frame that is. Since I'm still on a steep learning curve for WWI I figured I would "ask the experts"!

From what I've read it doesn't seem that bad. A major problem appears being rushed into production before the bugs were worked out.

So, is this one of those subjective "whats the best, Spit or 109" things, or did it really fall short on performance?
