Kitbashing GWS Tiggy

Anyone have any suggestions for a WW1 plane I could make by modifying a GWS Tiger Moth?

I believe a number of Tiger Moths were modified for use in the filming of the Blue Max. I believe as Pfalz's and maybe Se5's. Might be fun to try copying the lozenge camo of one of the German ships from the movie. I always thought that would be an interesting subject for a Scale competition with larger glow or gas models anyway.

Check out the Spring 2003 issue of "Over the Front" magazine. There are some definite similarities between the Tiggy and the Rumpler. You'd have to mod the tail surface shapes, cover the rear seat, and do a custom cowl, but they both share those distinctive swept-back wings. A number of guys have done the Tiger Moth on floats, with good results. (You'll need more power than a single IPS, though.)

Yeah, the Rumpler is one, also candidates are the Aviatik B1 and the LVG CII, both of which have slightly swept wing parts like the Moth, plus narrower, more triangular elevators and a smaller rudder. I'd have to work on a new solid foam cowling/nose, build landing gear and create a foam version of the exposed Merc engines, as well as change the fuse shape and fill and recut the area around the cockpits, add little foam machine guns, etc. but, definetely doable. Good paint is alot of the answer, too.

Lipos are going in before the IPS goes out, just to make sure the old girl can hang around a while, then its dual IPS once I have a handle on them.

Judging by certain movies, simply cover over one cockpit, or reverse the rear seat and add a machine gun, and then apply the WWI finish -- actual, modified, or imagined -- of your choice.

Kitbashing GWS Twiggy:
I have had the opportunity to examine one on the Blue Max Pfalz D.III planes.
While it requires quite a bit of work to make the transformation, you would have a Pfalz D.III when you are finished. Pretty cool!
