Hello all,
I would like to ask if there is an up-to-date consensus on the French "jaune" scheme carried on early and mid production Spad 7s. As far as I understand there were two versions of "light" Spad camouflages.
- One of them was rather simple: the all metal parts and undercarriage parts were painted chromate yellow (based on PbCrO4), while the all fabric surfaces were covered with unpigmented clear dope.
- Later on the metal parts were still painted with chromate yellow, but the fabric surfaces received aluminized chromate finish (58% of lead chromate + 42% of aluminum powder).
Is this information correct?
TIA
Tomasz
