William "Bill" Thaw
I would like to know more about early American involvement in the air war. It looks like Bill Thaw achieved the first "kill" over an E-111 on May 24, 1916. (thanks for your info last week).
 Can anyone direct me to a book/books or any publication for that matter, that might have details on those early "incounters"? Thanks alot, TeeKay

Hall Victor Chapman's Letters Legion of the Lafayette- Whitehouse (everyone's favorite--Not) War Letters of Edmond Genet War Letters of Kiffen Rockwell Letters Home- Nichols An American for France- Brown Vivid Air- Flammer Only the Clouds Remain- Walker Great Adventure- Parsons Lafayette Escadrille Biographies- Gordon My preference is for the volumes containing the letters written by the pilots. They give you a real feel for the moral commitments that led them to fight for something that they did not have to, but believed in. Hope this helps! Regards Stephen L.
