Cool Crew Chief

Hello, new to this forum. I am trying to find information on when the Signal Corp or the AAF first coined the term "Crew Chief"? Does anyone out there have any ideas wheree I might find information on what they called the first aviation mechanics? I purchased an old War Department manual TM 2170-12 The Aircraft Mechanic dated 1933 and it uses the term crew chief but only mentions it a few times. Thanks for any help.
