Boelcke vs. XYZ?

Hi All

If my memory serves correctly "Ossi" Boelcke (and his brother Wilhelm) had an argument with his CO in his time of service with FFA 13. I think the first leader of FFA 13 - Hans Streccius - was already transfered to another job. Who was the CO in the argument with the future air hereo B.?

Hello Rammjäger

Also here I have rather unsure information...

However, I have a Hptm Ludwig Schäfer (P), as taking over the command of FFA 13 on 1 Jan 15. He still hold the position in Jun 1915. He is reported to be WIA on an un-specific date...
I dont knew where he served before..

The problem is not only that I have "nil" basic information about him, like date of birth, promotions etc...but I am also unsure if he spelled his name Schaefer or Schäfer which could be vital for a correct identification...

Another problem is the Hptm x Schäfer (Schaefer?) who become the commander of FFA 14 in late 1915, is he the same guy or another "dog"..??

hope it could help a little..

Hi Gunnar,

thank you for this interesting news. So we know we have to look for a Hauptmann Schäfer (Schaefer) in the future.

I would like to know how did the Hauptmann feel when Boelcke became so famous later. And what did he tell other persons about Oswald Boelcke?

Gunnar,

today I discovered an interesting short note from a little local paper in Großenhain in 1913:

"10. Mai. Der Flieger Ernst Kühne fliegt mit Oberleutnant Schäfer als Begleiter auf seinem Fluge Berlin-Dresden-Berlin über die Stadt Großenhain."

Maybe our man?
