What colours did the Turks have their AEG C.IVs painted in? I am assuming that they didnt change the colour that they came in expect of course for the marking.
So did they come in green and purple top surfaces and CDL unders surfaces? Or green and brown top surfaces and light blue under surface?
If its the Purple one is there a matching model paint out there? Do Polly Scale do this colour?
Cheers & TIA

I do have a scan of that article but maybe I am blind as I can't see any reference to colours used. *
{edited}Ok looking at the photos in that article they seem to have the smae pattern of camo as used with green and purple. So what shade of green and what shade of purple?

Hi!
It is said, that one of the RAF squadrons has in it's collection a big piece of fabric from the Turkish AEG, in the "desert" 3 colour camo.
But I don't know more about it.
(It isn't Rodney Gerrard sample!)

Ross_Moorhouse;
In the current issue of World War 1 Aero No 178,is an article I wrote covering the camouflage schemes of the AEG C.IV aircraft.
Some of the machines from the second production order, serial numbers C.6574-6674/16. Initially they were painted in a two color scheme of pale greyish green and raw sienna with pale greyish blue undersides.,example 6648/16. On later production a three color scheme was used and a greyish green.
In both schemes the pale greyish green was the base color with the greyish green and raw siena as sprayed blotches in irregular and random patterns.
Merry Christmas,
Dan-San

Dan-San!
Very interesting!
What is your source? That mysterious RAF squadron?
What about AEGs 7062, 7066 and 7084/17?
These planes were used in Turkey by Ludomil Rayski, pilot who in '30s became chief of the Polish Air Forces.
He is said to fly also Gotha G.V in Turkey in 8.April 1917, is that possible?
Happy Christmas!
G.

GrzeM:
I should have looked at figure 8, it is C.7054 in a two color camouflage scheme pastel greyish green and greyish ruby to the top a side surfaces. AEG C.IV 7054/16 is from the fifth production order, serial numbers C.7050-7124/17. Soomewhere around serial number C.7100/17 the fuselage was lengthened to improve it's ground handling performance. One of these machines was used by the Polish Air Force in 1919. They were designated AEG C.IV v.R. "verlangerter Rumpf", lengthened body. This machine was finished in the same fashion. The wings were alternately banded in pastel greyish green and greyish ruby. Figure 9 illustrates AEG C.IV v.R.7123/17 with Polish markings.
A most Merry Christmas,
Dan-San

Dan-San:
Thanks for the info on the AEG Color schemes. The decals provided in the CSM kit are for C.7122 . This is next in the series to the one you describe as pastel grayish green and grayish ruby.
I'm simply dreadful with colors, are there any images on the web that might illustrate the colors you mention, not necesarally on an AEG C.IV, just something in the approximate color ranges that I could use as a guide for mixing paint.
Thanks
