Caudron type N

I am looking for information and especially pictures of this A/C. Of course the more detailed the better. I greatly appreciate any help anyone can render.

Hi John, Ive watched your post with interest as Im not aware of a Caudron type N ? Im no expert on Caudrons but twice in the past few years Ive done intensive "net searches" on the type C270 and later the GIII and GIV. As far as I am aware there were a couple of G's , couple of R's and the rest all C's types. I also believe there were a couple of very early "one off's" prototypes.. one being the famous ? one where the Caudrons (Rene and Gaston) couldn't wait for their engine to arrive so used their horse "Luciole" to pull it aloft. This name was later given to the C270 series. Here is a link to the types Im aware of

http://www.aviafrance.com/constructe...NSTRUCTEUR=313

A google search on Caudron type N only produces a "Flying Models Peanut scale" plan so perhaps there is one or perhaps its an obscure reference to one on the linked list ??

Out of curiosity I would like to find more about a type N .. have you any other info ?

Caudron type N

Hi Donny, The N is a mono plane built in 1911. I found an out of production kit of it by RN models. I'll send you a picture. Back in the sixties my father scratch built a small free flight model of it with a cox .049 for power. The plan was lost over the years. I couldn't find anything on this plane until this kit popped up. I want to get the plan and enlarge it. Cheers!

Hi again John, as soon as you mentioned the date 1911, something registered in my memory bank I presume the type N is this chap ?

I remember finding a french link a long time ago that had pictures of all their early ones. Ive long lost it but think the search may have been on "rene and Gaston Caudron". Ill try to find it again when Ive time. Also , I think I can recall an American e-mail buddy mentioned he was building one.. I'll give him an email and see if he has some info.. cheers

Just found the link I was looking for ..some early Caudrons..think yours is there

John Fitz,

The following may of interest to you even if you have the R/N plan. I think the R/N Caudron kit is based on a 1939 design by Henry Struck. A copy of the original plan and reproduction of the article from Model Airplane News is on-line in .PDF format courtesy of the site "Kenny's Old Time Model Airplane Magazine".

Thanks to Ken Horne for sharing this great old stuff with us.

Hi JohnFitz,
You really need to contact Martin Wilkinson. He has an excellent set of plans & 3 views on the Caudron "Racer"

You might still be able to purchase an original oil of this aeroplane.
