Howdy,

In Osprey Aircraft of the Aces 47 Spad Xll/Xlll Aces of
World War l by Jon Guttman, there are color profiles of 2 planes from the
13th Aero Squadron. Capt. Charles Biddle and 1Lt. William Stovall.
Both Spads carry red outlined with white numerals on the
upper wing. Hope that helps.

Greetings John_P; As promised I have done some digging. Here is what I've come up with so far. 13th Aero, no wing stripes. Numerals mostly in red with white border on wings and fuselage. In one specific case ( Spad XIII #24) the colours were reversed. The CO's aircraft has white and blue only cmdrs stripes . Also the cowling ring was blue and white striped. I'll have to check the files we have on the 13th to go further.

Arthur Billard & Leighton Brewer of the 13th Aero Squadron reported, "No wing stripes. Numerals were red with white border. CO's aircraft had blue and white diagonal stripes on fuselage and blue and white stripes on nose."
