My dear wife and I suddenly find ourselves in a "Barnstorming" frame of mind (Since last nights viewing of The Great Waldo Pepper.). Our next bill-of-fair will be the film "The Aviator" staring Christopher Reeves... Was just wondering what the "club members" thought of this film... I've always enjoyed it quite a bit (Besides the fact that the AC used in the film do not fit the time-frame.). I understand also that Reeves was also an acomplished flyer in his own right and did some of the flight scens in the film... A good man!

Input???

Thanks to all!

The Yusolavian mountains (or wherever) are passing tolerable for the Rockies but WW II PT-13/17s are NOT suitable for Stearman mailplanes. The only exception I'd allow in that regard was the SEN-SATIONAL plane crash in "the English Patient"; I can overlook a US military trainer in place of a Moth of some sort in 1939, considering the expendability factor. (I mean, if ya gotta expend an airplane, better one that's plentiful than rare.)

"I can't agree with you enough on that!" Theres no sense in making an "Endangered Species" out of an already rare crate! And I realize that, as the old saying goes, "You can't make an omelet, ect, ect"... But I must own, it truly breaks my heart when I see a beautiful machine cracked up on purpose!

Many thanks for your input, my friend...

Perhaps all is not as it appears to be. Recently viewing "Reach For The Sky" I noticed that in some scenes there were two Bulldogs, when I know for sure there was only one. Don't ask why it went un-noticed the other ten or twenty times I've seen the film, but it is obvious the other was a mockup built specifically for the crash scene later in the action. On the other hand we have Hamish Mahaddie famously stepping in to prevent the destruction of all of the Mosquitoes in 633 Sqn. Movie people huh?

Von Reichel,

You are quite correct about Christopher Reeve aka Superman, being an acomplished aviator.

One of my work colleagues taught Mr Reeve to fly and gain his PPL at Wycombe Air Park-Booker airfield, sometime during the early 80's if I recall correctly.

Regards

Scottie

"Thats a heart breaker in itself!"... To loose all mobility like that is bad enough...But for a pilot to be denied the joy of flight... "Well, thats like having your heart broken every minute of your life!

He is a far better man than I. He carries on depite... If I were ever condemned never to fly again, I don't believe I could carry on as he does!

Those of my Kameraden here @ the Aerodrome who are also pilots I know understand where I'm coming from...

Thanks for the input, Scottie!
