Esteemed forum members;

I am trying to locate some more exacting information on the AGO C.VII. To date, I have been able to locate only a few photographs - but no authoritative 3-view renderings.

I would be most appreciative and thankful, if I could obtaining a hint as to where I could locate same.

As I presently understand the issue, in 1919, the newly established Estonian aviation company flew a single AGO C.VII (Bestellnummer 265/??, EADF s/n 35) - perhaps the only operational AGO C.VII to have ever existed. I wish to have a better understanding re the capabilities and limitations of this a/c.

Thank you kindly in advance for any assistance efforts, which may be rendered on my behalf.

Regards;

Arvo L. V.

The Putnam book German Aircraft of WW1 has a photo, but very little other information. Only one C.VII was ever built. It seems that the fuselage of the C.VII is similar to the C.IV, but it has constant chord wings with steel strip diagonal bracing, instead of the highly tapered wings of the C.IV.

The C.IV suffered of poor stability and climb performance and maybe improvement was tried with a more conventional wing design. Highly tapered wings usually cause also nasty stalling habits.

Esteemed Seppo;

Thank you kindly for your reply. I will try to see if I can use all of the available photographs to create a new rendering of the AGO C.VII. Interesting that the only AGO C.VII built wound up, of all places, in Estonia. If memory serves me correctly, the a/c was rwithdrawn from service by Estonia in 1929.

Again, many thanks.

Regards;

Arvo
