Hello Friends!!!
This is my first post on this forum; I am overwhelmed at the scope and volume of data available here through the membership of the site; I thank you all in advance!!!
I am currently interested in building/collecting/learning/and wargaming in the WWI era, and am looking for specific information related to the tactical usage of airpower in WWI, from the beginning to the end; suggestions of excellent books/documentaries/etc... with lists of data on what planes were used, when, how, where, why, and by whom, what payloads, armaments, ordnance, etc... were carried; the who "9 yards", so to speak.
I encourage any and all discussion on this topic, and any lists, helpful info, etc... are heartily welcomed.
Specifically, I'd like to know things like:
-Which "Scout/Fighter" planes were fitted with bomb-racks and when did they start doing it; which types of bombs, where were they fitted, etc...???
-When were these types first used in the "fighter/bomber", ground attack role, how often, how/when were they employed, etc...???
-Were Heavy Bombers, like the Gotha and Handley-Page ever utilized in the troop support role, to provide air support for ground operations, if so, when and where, etc...???
I realize the grand scope of this query, but I think I've come to the "right place", as my friends on another website have highly recommended this site to me as the place to find answers; so any and all relevant responses are appreciated.
Thank You All for your help in advance.
Your friend,
Ernest (aka vikingcelt)
