Fellow Enthusiasts:
I was reading an old issue of Windsock International, wherein they reviewed a series of figures from "Van's Scale Models", listed at 109 W Travis, Fredericksburg, Texas 78624. Shown were three French figures in resin, 1/48th scale, one a seated pilot, one a standing pilot carrying a coat under his arm, and thirdly an aircraft mechanic. These looked very nice indeed. Can anyone answer the question: is this firm still in business at this address, or any other address, and has anyone any experience with these figures. Are they as good as the review says ("superb")?

Also do any other firms produce excellent figures, preferably in resin (to me better definition etc), and if so, some contact info? I note on the Copper State website they list figures, but the picture links are non-operable).

I have seen the Eduard WW1 set, and the example I saw had huge sink marks on at least one figure, as if his guts had been removed by some field surgeon butcher!

Any help on the above most appreciated.

Cheers,
Andrew B

Greetings Ross,
Wow! These figures are truly impressive. Thanks for posting the pics. How have these figures not been more widely publicized? Have you had dealings with this company? If so, what are your impressions of their service and products? At first glance I want to break out the CC and order all of 'em! I'm very curious to know more. Thanks in advance.

Best regards,
Bob D.

I think those are Hecker and Goros figures, which are fairly well known.

Andrew - Van's is unfortunately out of business, as far as I know. I don't know who has the masters.

Sorry Bob, I have never bought any of these figures YET! They are indeed Hecker and Goss. I would love to have some.

Greetings all!
Well, I decided to take the jump and purchase ALL ten sets of the Hecker and Goros WW1 figures. They bumped my door just yesterday and WOW(!!) these ARE superb. The detail and quality is unequaled by any 1/48 figs that I have seen (with the possible exception of Justin Young's work). Usually, I include figures as an aside to my aircraft models but these could be the centerpiece of any display. They have even rendered the texture of the cloth on the uniforms! They aren't cheap mind you, but IMO they are worth the money. For ya'll on this side of the pond, I dealt with redlancers.com out of PA. They have a great website of assorted figures and offer great service with fast shipping. Also checkout the 1/48 "Little Fokker" figures by Fusilier. I purchased both the German and British sets and they are on par with the H & G figs. BTW, a personal note of thanks to Ross for the latest hit on my credit card!
Regards,
Bob D.

I have never had any problems spending other peoples money. hehehehe...

"little Fokker" figures do look great... http://www.redlancers.com/minilistout.asp?...&mfg=424&page=4
Both sets would be great with a crashed/shoot down plane.
