I was wondering if Peter Grosz ever visits the board? I want to ask him a question about the Junkers D.I (J9), since he has written 2 very good publications on the J9.
Thanks in advance,
Jan

If you want to ask Peter Grosz a question its best to do it by mail. Also include an SASE for his convienence. This is how many of the devotees proved to the old hands that they were serious researchers. His address has been posted in WWI Aero many times over the years. Be specific. Don't try to get as much as you can with generalities. Being polite goes miles with the old hands. Peter is a genuinely decent fellow and we would have diddly if it were not for him. I owe him more than words can express. If your question has anything to do with the articles he will refer you back to re-read them.

Hi Jumpinjan,

I can confirm for a fact that Pete Grosz does not visit the board - he has neither e-mail nor internet access. I would agree with Stephen that a short letter with a few brief (and to the point) questions , with an SASE, would be best.

Very best regards,

Greg

I work with Peter on some ongoing features in Over The Front. After many discussions about email, etc. he has his reasons for not using that technology. He is very focused on what he is doing and doesn't want too many disctractions.

However, he is very technically savvy and uses a computer to write his manuscripts, a high-end Mac G-4 that has been beefed-up and is working hard on an Illustrated Encyclopedia of German Aircraft Manufacturers. I've read a number of chapters of the manuscript and it is very good! Just the kind of detail many are looking for.

Regards,

I wanted to know if there were any photos or drawings or any information on how the J9 was fabricated that he has in his files that was not published in his articles or anything new that he might have learned about the J9. I have recently found evidence on the Junkers metal working techniques and I wonder if he is aware of them. I have his address and I'll send a letter to Peter.

Kind of a new and improved version of the Gray and Thetford "German Aircraft of the First World War"? I can't wait!

Put me down for a copy!

Salute,
Steve

Go with what Stephen said Jan, you shall not go wrong. I have corrospended by mail with both he and Ray Rimell. Both were unquestionably helpful back in 1994 when I constructed this 1/48 Blue Max kit. I only had an old Seagate myself in those days and MS-DOS. Email and the Internet were out of my league and out of my financial ability.
