Anyone familiar with the colors used on these aircraft. Did different mfg have distinct colors for their production of these.

I am looking at a couple of photos of Rumps from FA 7. One in particular is the machine which was later captured #3 of that unit. It featured an "eye" painted on the nose. The plane was described as brown/green/light green. However I do not see 3 colors used on the fuselage?? I also note that the unit symbol an "arrow" is actually painted on a dark sqaure background possibly black or red which has been missed in renderings of some of their aircraft before.

wingstrut.com:
Todd, The Ru C.IV to C.VII went through many different camouflage finishes. Initial production on the C.IV were camouflaged in dark Green and rust brown.
Commencing with the second order Rumpler went to a 3 color camouflage scheme of light and dark green and rust brown and very pale sky blue on the undersides.. With their third order, they used 5 color printed fabric, dark on the top and side surfaces, and the light pattern on the under-sides.
With their first order for the Ru.C.VII they went to greyish violet and dark green on the top and side surfaces with very pale blue under-sides.
Simply put the 1916 orders were pale and dark green and rust brown
the orders after April 1917, Idflieg elimanated the rust brown and replaced it with dark violet. Many were covered five color fabric with the cowlings dark green.
Rumpler C.IV 8500/17 was painted light green,(27B4), dark green,(27E5) and rust brown, (6E8. The under-sides, struts and wheel covers were turquiose white,(24A2)
If you have a specific machine you wish to do, give me the serial number, and I'll tell you what the colors were.
Blue skies,
Dan-San

Once again, a big thank you Dan.

I have been looking at a number of photos of Rumplers recently that Greg supplied me.

I am trying to sort out some of the 3 color versions from some of the photos. Just short on time as of late to do some work on some of the things I have underway.

Thanks Mark! C&C quarter got out pretty darn quick. I sent my stuff to them second week of November. I got my copies before x-mas.

Yes, I have Illustrator. I am not sure the extent that I will ever use it for the manner in which I want to present aircraft. Perhaps aircraft parts or other things. My point of view on aircraft profiles is that they be presented as if they are simply the real aircraft image. I have yet to go to an airport and see an airplane with black line outline!! Kinda reminds me of police chalk outlines. (not intended to offend those who have mastered the use of Illustrator in doing profiles)

I am considering a trip to England in April and may drop in at C&C conference. Funds will allow it if I leave my wife at home!!!!!!!!! LOL.
