I run something called The Aero Conservancy. It is a virtual museum of early aviation artifacts on the internet at
http://www.aeroconservancy.com . I have acquired a number of original Albatros D.V parts – the right and left rear undercarriage legs and their attachment fittings to the fuselage, left cabane strutt, the inner portion of the left lower wing spar, etc.
I want to replicate bulkheads 5 and 6 and attach the rear undercarriage legs to 6 and the left wing spar and cabane strut to 5 and then mount these two bulkheads on a block of wood in exact relationship to each other as they would have been in the original aircraft.
I am looking for someone to replicate bulkheads 5 and 6 for me. I have exact dimensions (including the ellipses) of these bulkheads from someone who photographed the restoration of the Albatros D.Va at the Smithsonian’s Air & Space Museum. These dimensions are given in 8.5” x 11” free-hand drawings of the bulkheads and the drawings are not to scale.
Does anyone know of someone who would be able to replicate these bulkheads for me? What would something like this cost, do you think? Could it be done in lexan or plexiglass? What time frame are talking about?
Many thanks,
Charles Gosse
