I don't know if this works with RBII, but with RB3D, if you start the game without having the CD in the tray, you will get this nice little sign telling you it's not there and that the game needs it. There are 4 Iron crosses on it, one in each corner.
If you click on the one in the upper right corner 6 times, the game will start.
For the game to work properly this way, you need to use the large install. You know, the one that uses the most space.
And, if you want the various videos to work, you need to copy them to your hard drive, but it will save wear and tear on your Game CD.

Well that's what I call a useful "Easter Egg" thanks for sharing that.
If only somebody would make a graphics patch that let me run the game in 3D with my Diamond Viper 770 Ultra graphics card, I'd be a happy man. :-/

I'd say try it and see. It can't hurt to try it. The worst that could happen is it won't work, and you'll have to put your CD in the CD-ROM drive.

It could be there are some files, probably movie and sound files it's trying to access. You might have to copy those to your hard drive as well. That's what I did.

your absolutely right there are files missing and I think I will leave them on my CD as these days I am slowly taking things off my hard drive and putting them on CD's. While everyone else out there is buying 20gb hard drives and 1ghtz processors,
I opted for a re wright CD rom.
Hopefully my RB CD will last long enough until someone finally brings a new WW1 Sim that is better.

Well, you could (looks left, then right, then up, then down, then in hushed tones whispers) copy your RBII/3d CD!!!
For your own use of course.

Al Lowe

I have tried this with RBII and it will start to load up and just as its about to go to main menu it comes up to insert the CD so it wont work on the highest version of RBII(this not being 3D)
