According to his obituary, my great uncle, Charles Carvel FLEET (1894-1941)served "as a First Lieutenant in the 135th Air Squadron, training in England before going to France. This was recognized as the first all-American air squadron to serving overseas."
I am having difficulty obtaining info on the 135th Air Squadron. Any guidance would be appreciated.

The 135th Observation Sqn. was called the "All American Squadron" because it was equipped with American built DH 4s and had American trained crews. It became operational on 8Aug18, C.O. Lt. A. Blair Thaw. Lt. Charles C. Fleet served with the 135th from 30Jul18 to the end. Source: Wings of Honor by James J. Sloan, Jr., ISBN 0-88740-577-0.

You may still buy a copy of the "History of the 135th Aero Squadron; From July 25 to November 11, 1918" by Percival Gray Hart. This was originally published in 1939 but was recently reprinted in a fine edition by The Battery Press, P.O. Box 3107, Uptown Station, Nashville, TN, 37219. The ISBN is O-89839-156-3. You can obtain it directly from the publishers or many aviation booksellers as well. Do an internet serach for "Articles of War, Ltd.". I know they carry it. It's a fine book and I'm sure your relative is covered in it.

Another good one concerning the 135th is "The Hawk That Guided The Guns" by Lawrence Smart. Hard to find, but well worth the look!
