Greetings,

I'm looking for information on a German WW I pilot, last name Rempe, first name possibly Max. I'm told he began flying two-seat observation planes and ended his career in a D VII. Apparently, he had over five confirmed kills and was forced down by a Guynemer round that took out his right hand and damaged the stick as well. He's not listed herein on the German aces list and I'm wondering if the family stories about him are, in fact, accurate.

Yours,
Dave McDaniel

There is nothing on him in "Jasta Pilots" by Franks and Bailey, which is intended to be a comprehensive listing of all German flyers. Regards, Lee

Hi

There was a Vfw Willy Kempe who served in FA 39 and later Jasta 34 who was shot down POW on 22 July 1917.....but not in the area where Guynemer was flying....

He had one confirmed victory.

Could he be the man..?
