Dag,

You should probably try and get a copy of the book, "Above Flanders' Fields" by Walter M. Pieters, Grub Street, London, 1998. ISBN 1 898697 83 3. It will no doubt answer many of your questions.

To whom it concerns, if you look for a complete history of the Belgian 'air force' during WW I, don't hesitate, just look for: "De geschiedenis van de Belgische Militaire vliegerij" (The history of the Belgian Military Aviation 1910-1918" by Ludo Vrancken, ISBN 90-71936-16-3. It's a very accurate and abundantly illustrated book on every aspect of the Belgian Aviation during the Great war and in my opinion the natural companion of Walter Pieters 'Above Flanders Fields'. Despite the fact that it's written in Dutch it should find its way to the bookshelf of every WW I air war buff around the world. The book is only available at the Royal Army Museum, Jubelpark 3, B1000 Brussels/Belgium.
