Can anyone provide any information? I have just acquired an aerial recon photo of two battery positions in heavily wooded terrain. Stamped on the back is a cachet for FFA 58. The cachet is crowned eagle looking to left within a circle surrounded by unit name with single asterisk at foot. Blue ink has been used. There are some hand-written notes on back -- mostly indecipherable -- but including: 2 batteries north of lake (in German!) 1:25000 Szadow R12 N0 R11 0 Deetyn (?) ...Batteriestellung Where did this unit operate? I'm assuming Russia/Poland but know nothing of this unit. Thanks, Duncan

FFA 58 operated in 1914 through 1916 in Russia.
From the beginning of 1916 till the end of year it was with German 8th Army in the Northern part of the East front.
Any date on the photo ?

Thanks for your information. I'm afraid there's no date.
