Hi all

The German Naval Air Force did sometimes during the autumn 1915 created own Flying ranks, which meant that the flyers(pilots/observers) who already normal naval ranks suddenly were "promoted" into these ranks...

I wonder when this happened(date)..?...and if there were any rules around it..?

It seems to me, that for example a Steuermansmaat like Christiansen could end up in nearly any new rank...?

:-/

Ho ho

It is a bit sad trying to "answer" your own question.. :'(

But perhaps it was a to difficult one....but it ought to exist some people out there who has an interest in German ranks..?

If "they" exist it would be worthful even for some small comments...like own thoughts etc...

Gunnar,

ask me again in the Christmas time if I have more time to dig for those special topics.

PS: German is tough: "die Luft" but "König der Luft".

Hi Gunnar;

I saw that also. I wondered why they did it; Looked for more details, but i could not find any reason until now. I think they just did it to make a difference.
I found it strange to find a Steuersmansmaat oder Oberbootsmansmaat as a pilot or oberver. Does not sound very flying don't you think.

I'll get copies of all diaries withing a few week i hope.

I'll let you know.

Alain.
